Heather’s love of children and learning was evident through her commitment to education and her students. As a lasting legacy to her memory, the foundation will provide college scholarships to students that demonstrate outstanding character, commitment and compassion for others.
The deadline for interested seniors wishing to make application for the Heather’s Hope Scholarship for $1,000 is April 30th, 2012. The requirements are listed below:
Must be a graduating senior in a Polk County high school.
Submit an essay on Domestic Violence: What can be done to lessen the acts of domestic violence in our community? How does Domestic Violence affect families?
Must have an average GPA of 2.5
If selected by our committee you will be asked submit a wallet size photo of yourself.
Essays will be judged and winners selected and notified by May 15, 2012. Recipient's photo will appear on this page if chosen for the scholarship

For the 2010-2011 school year at McKeel Academy, our foundation presented a $500 scholarship to a senior girl and a $500 scholarship to a senior boy who were on a list of students who participated in track. They were required to write an essay on the three “C”s : Character, Commitment and Compassion.
